Verify that the paper type matches with what is the Type Set in the operator panel of the printer. To verify it, hit the Menu button on the printer. Keep going down until you see the Tray Settings option. Hit the Enter () button to enter the Tray Settings menu.

Keep going down until you see Paper Type and hit Enter afterwards to enter its menu. Keep navigating down until you see the particular paper tray viz. Tray 1\2 or Multipurpose Feeder (MPF). Hit the Enter button to enter the menu of a paper tray. You will see a Paper Type Chart. Use the UP or Down arrow button to select a correct paper type. When selected, hit the Enter key. Now hit the Menu button again to get back to the menu. The printer should print fine now. In case you need help checking the print menu options, refer to you Dell printer support manual. It must have come with the original Dell printer setup kit.

Paper jams are the commonest Dell printer problem. The problem does vary with different Dell printer models and make. When you encounter a paper jam problem, look from where the paper comes out. Open the printer cover and pull out the offending paper piece in your direction. Be careful when pulling out the paper. Make sure that you do not tear it. Close the printer cover. Check the paper tray now. Make sure that the paper stack is lined properly in the paper tray. If not, line up the papers properly.





Also check the roller. If it has become loose, tighten it. This should fix any paper jam problem. In case the problem persists, turn off the printer and wait for 30 seconds. Turn it on afterwards. This will allow printer to reset the settings. Now start repeatedly pressing the Print button to make the paper advance to the paper outlet. Keep pressing the Print button until the paper has fully come out. The paper jam will clear and your printer will start functioning again.
